Venture Name: Reclaiming Ritual

Coach: Heather Shafter

Peer: Naveh Barlowe ’20

Venture Description

Reclaiming Ritual provides ceremonies honoring life experiences that are not commonly recognized in our culture. Ceremony can be a powerful way of honoring the important moments in our lives, surrounded by the warmth of friends, family, and community. It can also be a way to feel grounded in our cultural roots and connected with our heritage. The most common ceremonies in western culture are baby welcoming rituals, coming of age, weddings, and funerals, but there are so many more milestones that can be commemorated. Some examples include gender transition, coming out, decisions to be childfree, pregnancy loss and infertility, abortion, mental health recovery, discovering neurodivergence, and even pet adoption.
