Come and celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Losang Samten: Tibetan Sand Mandala with the Philadelphia Folklore Project!
Artist and Buddhist meditation teacher Losang Samten returns to PFP for his 10th annual residency, creating an image of the universe in colored sand over the course of a week. Losang will be bringing the Green Tara mandala to life through his meditative and breathtaking artistic process.
“Mandalas are healing for an individual’body, speech, mind and the environment,” Losang explains. The Green Tara is a deity who helps develop qualities such as compassion and loving-kindness.
Observe & Meet Losang: Sand mandala creation 2:30-7 PM Monday – Friday. Come and listen to Losang’s process on his mandala-making and the stories and messages embedded in this art of Tibet, his homeland.
Participate: in this public “mandala dismantling” ceremony at PFP, after which we’ll all go down to the river to return the sand to the water.
Special Folklore Project donors dinner with Losang Samten featuring momo, a Tibetan dish and butter tea. More info to follow.
