BuildaBridge International presents Tones of Home, a concert and art-making series for the people of Philadelphia. Tones of Home brings together musicians from diverse backgrounds to amplify the sounds of a united culture against the cacophonous sounds of hate, racism and bigotry.
Singer/Songwriter Ami Yares (a Tribe 12 Fellowship Alum) is the offspring of the New Jersey turnpike, raised in the echo of the Liberty Bell and caught between the lines of folk songs sung together late at night. “Yares wields his 12-string guitar as if it were an entire orchestra, backing his vocals with a dense, rich cascade of sound (David Foster, AXS).” His music sounds as if Pete Seeger took a liking to electric guitar and driving rhythms, then gave it all back up for the acoustic guitar. Not only on stages across Europe, the US and Middle East has Ami brought his music, but also into communities in conflict seeking ways to better the future.
For Ami, it’s a privilege and responsibility to follow the muse of music and justice, together. This edition of Tones of Home celebrates the release of Ami’s new five-song EP, begin to Begin Again.
