Featuring visiting scholar Dr. Alon Tam who will deliver a lecture on
“The Jews of Egypt in the Twentieth Century”
Dr. Alon Tam is a Fellow at the Herbert D. Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies, and an Israel Institute Visiting Faculty at the University of Pennsylvania, where he also earned his PhD. He is a social and cultural historian of the Middle East, who has done research on such topics as the history of coffeehouses in Cairo, Jewish social identities in Egypt, the Judeo-Arabic press in Morocco, as well as film, literature, and food in the Middle East.
