First Fruits Garden Party

Join us for our First Fruits Garden Party, a Shavuot-themed fundraising event in West Philadelphia. Enjoy delicious tastings and small plates from local chefs and restaurants, including Vedge and V-Street, craft beer from Conshohocken Brewing Company, lively music, and the sights and smells of the springtime garden.

In ancient times, Shavuot, the festival that celebrates the wheat harvest, was also a time when farmers would bring their first fruits (Bikkurim) as offerings to the temple. Our First Fruits Garden Party will honor this tradition by showcasing food, drink, and entertainment offerings from chefs, purveyors, musicians, and performers from around the city.

All of the funds raised will support our Urban Sustainability Programs, which build the community’s capacity to live more sustainably, support the work of local farms and food justice organizations, and connect this work to Jewish traditions, values, and the cycles of the Hebrew calendar.
