“FRIEDA Food for Thought Series” is meant to highlight the great work done every day by people and organizations, usually in the neighborhoods of Philadelphia, to tackle the issues we all face, directly and indirectly, be it poverty and homelessness, inequality of opportunities or climate change.
This is not a political forum, this is not a policy debate, this is not about ranting about issues.
Ranting hardly solves problems. Advocacy, activism and yes money is surely part of the solution.
When you attend this event, you receive information from people who work on the ground to tackle those issues. Speakers and panelists share data and information, discuss challenges and
talk about achievements. Our goal is to come out better informed.
While these events are not fundraisers, they give an opportunity to non-profit organizations to reach out to an audience that is curious, socially conscious and engaged.
Our theme this October-November cycle “VOICES” lends itself naturally to social activism and advocacy.
We will touch on the hot topics of our times – income and opportunity inequality, immigration and climate change – through the work of women and men who tackle these challenges every
day, some on the frontlines.
