Story Slam: Times of Transition

Tribe 12 is excited to once again partner with Amanda Eve Thum of The Maggid (themaggid.com) to host our very own Jewish story slam. For those who don’t know, a story slam is an event where people come together to tell stories live, in front of an audience of their peers. In Jewish culture, a “maggid” is a skilled narrator of Torah and religious stories.

Let’s gather, get comfy, and maybe grab a drink for a night of open storytelling! Anyone with a short story (five minutes max) to share on the night’s theme will then have a chance to be the maggid themselves. Use your voice; speak! Come tell a story—whether it’s funny, heartwarming, empowering or just plain weird—or just sit back and enjoy the show.

Our theme for the night is “Times of Transition.” Interpret this as you wish. If you know ahead of time that you have a specific story you would like to share, send us a message so that we can write your name down beforehand. We will be holding this event at one of our favorite bars in Center City, which will be announced in the next week or so.

Please note that The Maggid endorses & supports the integral work of ORA: the Organization for the Resolution of Agunot. To learn more, go to www.getora.org.
