Join Tribe 12’s Rabbinic Intern Molly Paul for a six-week course of empowering and accessible Talmud study using the SVARA method. In this mixed-level beit midrash we will explore the origin of the phrase eilu v eilu divrei elohim hayyim – these and these are the words of the living G<3d. This section of Talmud teaches us about the importance of disagreement in the rabbinic lineage and how we value diverging opinions.
Whether this is your first encounter with a page of Talmud or you are a seasoned Talmud learner – this course is for you! We’ll learn in chevruta, learning pairs, and explore this ancient Jewish text in the original Hebrew and Aramaic. This a mixed level learning space which means it is for you as long as you know the Hebrew letters. If you know Hebrew well, get excited to slow down and dive deep. If you are newer to learning Talmud in the original language, then you will undoubtedly bring a new perspective to share! We each hold a piece of the puzzle and you might not know what your piece looks like until you take a seat at our table.
Sessions will be held on March 26, April 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30, from 6:30-8:30pm at the Weitzman. Cost is $36 for the series with no one turned away for lack of funds. You can submit it at tribe12.org/donate or Venmo @Tribe12.
