Virtual Moon Circle: Adar II

This year, we get to spend not just one month increasing joy, but TWO! Gather with Tribe 12’s Moon Circle as we deep dive into the other heroine of the Purim story, Queen Vashti. We will be joined by Rabbi Leah Berkowitz for a reading and discussion of her 2021 children’s book, “Queen Vashti and her Comfy Pants.”

Bring a journal, your favorite scented candle, and your comfiest pants for a relaxing evening of community and celebration.

More about Queen Vashti and her Comfy Pants: Why did Queen Vashti, the other Purim royal, refuse to obey her king’s commands? Although the traditional biblical text gives us no real clue, this story humorously imagines what it might have been like for a Queen to stand up for herself against a string of high-handed demands. In doing so, it demonstrates the value of understanding the worth of their own needs and desires.

We welcome all people who self-identify with or as women, genderqueer, gender-nonconforming, and nonbinary folx.

Make sure to RSVP to get the Zoom link!

Tribe 12 connects people in their 20s/30s to Jewish life and community in Philadelphia today so they will choose to stay connected tomorrow. We commit to creating a space that celebrates the many gender identities and expressions, sexualities, religious practices, ethnic and multi-ethnic identities, racial and multi-racial identities, disabilities, and financial circumstances that make up our Jewish community.
