Rabbi Howard Alpert received his B.A. degree from Queens College in 1973 and a masters degree in Rabbinic Literature from Yeshiva University in 1979. He is an ordinand of Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary of Yeshiva University. Having begun his career with Hillel in 1973, as Assistant Director of the Hillel at Queens College, Rabbi Alpert continued as Hillel Director at the University of Illinois from 1977 to 1980, and at Ohio State University from 1980 to 1986.
Rabbi Alpert moved to the Philadelphia area in 1986, to assume the position of Executive Director of the Jewish Campus Activities Board — since renamed Hillel of Greater Philadelphia. Rabbi Alpert has five children and lives with his wife Sarah in Merion, Pennsylvania.
