Restaurant Week Recap w/Tribe 12

Did you go out for Center City Restaurant Week? Did you even know it was happening?! We at Tribe 12 love to eat, which is no secret to anyone! Here’s some recaps and reviews of the different restaurants our staff tried out!

“I went to Sampan, and I dream of returning ASAP. I was wary of small plates, but I was stuffed with salad, scallops, and swordfish in a tasty two-hour vortex. They ended the meal with mini-ice cream cones with a FREAKIN’ SPARKLER coming out! Shoutout to our server, who thought my tweet was funny about the first date couple at the next table over.”
-Ross Weisman, Sampan @ 124 S 13th St, Philadelphia

“I ate at Gabi, which is all of the fancy French food without the stuffy French atmosphere. The servers were the nicest people ever and gave no side eye to my affirmative “Yes I would like more bread” statements. The appetizers and entrees were so good that I, a self-professed dessert queen, was unable to finish the most tasty creme brulee I’ve ever had in Philly. Cannot wait to go back here during happy hour where they have small plates and cocktails for $5.”
-Polly Edelstein, Gabi @ 339 N Broad St, Philadelphia

“I ate at Trattoria Carina, which you cannot miss with its beautiful green and white striped awning. From the grilled octopus to the fresh pesto, I was in love! But what really tugged at my heart strings was the Carina margarita. I know, a margarita at an Italian restaurant?! Well, it was refreshing and yummy – highly recommend! I usually do not repeat restaurants out of principle, but the table next to us got the Chicken parmigiana and it looked heavenly. Cannot wait to go back!”
-Hannah Isaacs, Trattoria Carina @ 2201 Spruce Street, Philadelphia

“I went to the Oyster House who luckily just reopened in time for Restaurant Week. They did an interior face lift, and it paid off! I started with Oysters on the half shell, which were fresh and delicious with a little bit of lemon. Classic! The lobster roll was toasted and loaded with lobster meat and a side of crispy fries. Highly recommend the cocktail I got, the “Hivemind,” which was tequila, lime, honey, mint, and angostura bitters. Remember that Oyster House does a great happy hour: Monday to Friday from 5 to 7PM at the bar area.”
