Tribe 12 Community Code of Conduct

Our Code of Conduct was developed through a collaborative process involving Tribe 12 staff, board members, and external consultants from Sacred Spaces. The policy was reviewed using the Keilim Policy Toolkit to ensure comprehensive coverage of safety, inclusion, and accountability standards.
This Code of Conduct applies to:
- All Tribe 12 programs, including but not limited to, matchmaking services, social events, educational programming, and community gatherings
- All participants, staff, volunteers, board members, and contractors
- All settings, including but not limited to: in-person events, online platforms, third-party venues, and digital communications
- Behavior that occurs outside official Tribe 12 settings when it affects community safety
We do not tolerate and strictly prohibit:
- Harassment: Unwelcome conduct that creates a hostile, intimidating, or offensive environment. This includes, but is not limited to, verbal, physical, visual, or digital harassment.
- Bias and Discrimination: Treating individuals unfavorably based on protected characteristics including race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, ability, neurodivergence, mental health status, physical appearance, body size, socioeconomic status, immigration status, or any other aspect of identity.
- Bullying: Repeated aggressive behavior intended to hurt, intimidate, or control another person, including but not limited to cyberbullying and social exclusion.
- Intimidation and Threats: Any behavior designed to frighten, coerce, or threaten harm to another person, including but not limited to veiled threats and creating fear of physical harm.
- Stalking: Stalking is unwanted, obsessive attention directed at a specific person that would reasonably cause them to feel threatened. Stalking behaviors include but are not limited to repeated unwanted contact, following or monitoring someone's activities, showing up at their locations, damaging property, threatening harm, investigating their personal information, or contacting their associates.
- Retaliation: Taking adverse action against a person for reporting violations of this Code, participating in investigations, or supporting those who report concerns.
- Abuse of Power: Misusing position, authority, or influence to exploit, manipulate, or harm a person.
- Weapons: Weapons of any kind are prohibited at all Tribe 12 events and spaces. Weapons include but are not limited to firearms, knives, explosives, pepper spray, tasers, clubs, brass knuckles, or any object designed to or capable of causing bodily harm.
By committing to this code of conduct, you also agree to honor Tribe 12's core values which serve as our shared agreement for how we show up together in community.
Reporting & Response
Incident Reporting
Report incidents of harassment, discrimination, bias, or hate in these incident reports. Either report may be submitted anonymously.
- Report a Community Concern (goes to Tribe 12's Human Resources Committee)
- Report a Concern About a Tribe 12 Staff Member (goes to only the Human Resources Representative of the Tribe 12 Board of Directors)
- Either report may be submitted anonymously
Our Response
All incident reports will be acknowledged within one week of receipt of a report if you choose to provide contact information. Your voice and preferences will guide our response as we follow our investigative and response-based processes.
We will maintain confidentiality to the extent possible, while conducting thorough investigations and handle all matters with utmost discretion. In limited circumstances involving safety concerns, we may not be able to guarantee complete anonymity, but any information that must be shared will only be shared with individuals directly responding.
Staff Reporting Obligations
Tribe 12 staff and board members are required to report any incidents they become aware of to ensure consistent community safety response.
