"My husband and I aren’t originally from Philadelphia, and we initially struggled to find a community of peers in our shul. We found ourselves in an “in-between” stage - married but not yet starting a family - and didn’t quite fit into the existing groups. The Couples Cohort was a game-changer for us. "I am queer and secular and had a hard time in college and in my early adulthood finding a Jewish community that made me feel like I could be my whole self in. So I was without a Jewish community for about 10 years, and definitely have felt the absence. But in 2025, I finally decided that I needed to start looking again for that community. At Tribe 12 I felt accepted almost immediately. One of my first events was a queer Shabbat dinner and it was such an affirming experience to feel like I found not just a Jewish community but a queer one too. And it was definitely the event that made me want to stay engaged with Tribe 12. I have also taken some of the classes with Rabbi Megan and Rabbi Molly and love that I can continue my Jewish education on so many interesting topics such as mysticism and LGBTQIA+ life. In those classes and other Tribe 12 events, I have met so many wonderful people.
