Are you ready to sing, dance, and laugh so hard you snort Manischewitz out of your nose? A Very Broadway Purim can make that happen!
We know you’re probably thinking one of two things:
“Yasss! Purim is back! My favorite time of year!”
OR
“What the heck is Purim, and how did I get on this list?”
Every year, A Very Awesome Purim throws a big Purim party and puts on a musical about a drunken king, an evil prime minister, and a queen who saves the entire Jewish population. The production strikes a careful balance: one part tasteless, two parts hilarious. With your help, we choose a theme—this year: “Broadway”—and translate it into an original musical telling the story of Purim.
Tickets for this two-night-only event are on sale now.
This is the first time we are charging. To sustain this growing event and help to offset the cost of production, we ask you to pay a small fee for the ticket this year. If you truly cannot afford a ticket, please let us know and we will work something out. Also, if you get one of the close-to-stage tickets, you’ll get a signed poster from the cast and a slice of pizza (should you want one!) Every purchase of any ticket includes a digital download of all of the songs from the last 4 years!
This is what you can expect from the night:
An interactive musical
featuring parodies of your favorite Broadway songs.
Drinking!
In Purim tradition, you’re supposed to drink until you can’t tell the difference between the good guy and the bad guy in the story. (It’s not difficult.)
A costume party.
Dress to the theme, or any costume will do. There may even be a reward for the best-dressed…
A boisterous sing-a-long.
From “Defying Tyranny” to “La Vie Purim,” we’ve got the best of Broadway with some hamantaschen flavor and plenty of surprises along the way.
The greatest party of the year.
