Shtetl Skills: Ancestral Fire

During Lag B’Omer, we commemorate the end of an ancient plague around a large fire. But bonfires aren’t exactly allowed on Broad Street, so in order to properly celebrate this elusive holiday, we’re hosting our fireside chat live from Western Mass! During this event, Micah will show us how he creates fire using ancestral skills like flint and steel and will lead us in a meditation to help you reconnect with the elements.
Micah Mortali is the author of Rewilding: Meditations, Practices and Skills for Awakening in Nature and the founder of the Kripalu School of Mindful Outdoor Leadership. His life’s work is reconnecting modern people with the restorative powers of nature through mindfulness in the great outdoors.
It’s a series of monthly workshops that promote practical, ancestral, and sustainable skills rooted in Jewish traditions and land connection.
Accessibility: A sign language interpreter, live captioning, and advanced materials are available by request. To aid us in accommodating these and other needs for you to fully participate in this event, please email davinica@tribe12.org or call Tribe 12 at (267) 652-0088 three days prior to the event.
