What does it mean to feel at home, and how do Jewish texts help us navigate moments when life feels uncertain or transitional? In this five-week series we will explore the Jewish idea of exile as both a challenge and an opportunity for growth, creativity and deeper connection. Through traditional sources, modern liturgy and open conversation, we will look at how Jewish wisdom understands the journey from placelessness to rootedness and how people find meaning along the way.
Each week will highlight a different aspect of exile and homecoming. We will study classic Jewish stories, reflect on themes of belonging and explore how Jewish communities across history have rebuilt their sense of place in new environments. Together we will discover how the experience of exile can also guide us toward resilience, renewal and a richer understanding of what it means to find home.
The dates are Thursdays, February 19th, February 26th, March 5th, March 19th, and a Shabbat dinner in Mt. Airy on Friday, March 27th.
